Important Test Announcement!

This test is currently being administered in Oregon by the Oregon Landscape Contractors Association and is a combination of a hands-on and a written exam. Starting May 1, 2019, the exam will change to an online testing system through NALP directly.  

ATTENTION NEW CANDIDATES:

If you have not taken the Landscape Industry Certified Technician Exam, it is our recommendation that you do not register for the 2018 test because if you do not pass the test by April 30, 2019, you will be required to take the new exam in its entirety.

ATTENTION RETAKE CANDIDATES:
Between now and April 1, 2019 OLCA will be hosting the several opportunities for you to retake any sections needed to finish your Landscape Industry Certified Technician Exam.

Landscape Industry Certified Technician Exterior Program

The National Association of Landscape Professionals' Landscape Industry Certified Technician — Exterior Test is an international, hands-on testing program administered by the Oregon Landscape Contractors Association (OLCA). It recognizes proficiency in the landscape workforce, upgrades the status of the landscape professional, and provides the public with a means of identifying qualified landscape professionals.

There are five certifications available:

  • Softscape Installation
    Softscape Installation demonstrates knowledge by successfully installing plant materials.

  • Hardscape Installation
    Hardscape Installation demonstrates competence by installing hardscapes.

  • Turf Maintenance
    Passing the Turf Maintenance tests show that a person has the skills to maintain Turf in a professional manner.

  • Ornamental Maintenance
    Passing the Ornamental Maintenance tests show that a person has the skills to maintain Ornamental plants in a professional manner.

  • Irrigation
    Passing the Irrigation test demonstrates that a person has the skills to install and maintain an irrigation system and understands the fundamentals of water management.
